Police are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run that injured a pedestrian in Hell’s Kitchen, leaving him in critical condition at a hospital.

The 28-year-old pedestrian had just left a bar and was crossing 47th Street at 10th Avenue at around midnight when he was hit by a dark-colored vehicle, police said.

He was taken to the hospital with fractures to his leg and shoulder, and a cut to the head.

Surveillance video obtained by News 4 New York shows the man trying to dart through the crosswalk against flowing traffic when the car hits him, sending him flying into the air and crashing back down on the ground.

The car, which police believe had livery cab license plates, kept going.

Witness Bruno Robinson said people started screaming, and when he turned around, saw the bloodied man on the ground.

“He was trying to say words but was more like moaning, because I don’t think he could breathe properly,” he said.

Another neighbor, Miriam Galarza, said, “It was like a very loud noise, and I knew it was an accident because I heard people screaming.”

Robinson said he tried to calm the victim.

“His head was bleeding, and his face was facing the street,” he said. “I told him not to move his neck because it was dangerous. Like, ‘Don’t move, just wait, help is on the way.'”

Police were still trying to identify the driver Tuesday night.
