Peter Weber Is the Bachelor in Season 24

On the Wings of Love, Part Deux! Peter Weber, the 28-year-old pilot from Los Angeles who finished third on Hannah Brown‘s season of The Bachelorette, has been chosen as the 24th Bachelor, host Chris Harrison announced during the Season 6 finale of Bachelor in Paradise on Tuesday.

Peter said he was excited to head to Bachelor Mansion, a house he lives just a few minutes away from. “I have all the faith in the world that this can work for me, and I know it’s going to,” he said.

Peter became a Bachelor Nation favorite during Hannah’s season for his boyish good looks and cheerful disposition. Hannah broke up with him because she didn’t feel the same feelings she felt for Jed Wyatt (at the time), but they processed the end of their relationship during the Bachelorette finale and are on good terms. Peter was — indirectly — part of the most memorable moment of the season, when Hannah, in an attempt to get Luke Parker to leave her alone, told him that she had sex with someone (Peter) in a windmill two times, a number she revised to four times when asked about it during the finale.

Peter’s time on The Bachelorette was not without minor controversy. A woman he had dated for five months named Calee Lutes accused him of dumping her to go on the show, which Peter denied, and said that he ended the relationship because he and Lutes weren’t on the same page. Whatever happened, it was not like what happened with Jed, who didn’t even really break up with his girlfriend before he went on the show.

Peter is the second pilot to be the Bachelor (the first was Jake Pavelka) and the first Cuban American Bachelor.

Peter was chosen over second-place finisher Tyler Cameron, who is currently dating supermodel Gigi Hadid, and fifth-place finisher Mike Johnson, who would have been the first black Bachelor but has half the Instagram followers Peter has (Peter has 1.1 million). (To be fair, social media popularity is only one of many factors producers consider when choosing a lead, and they have determined that Peter will be better at carrying a season than Mike.)

The Bachelor Season 24 will start filming this month and premiere Jan. 6, 2020 on ABC.
