Kyle Lowry, adds another milestone achievement to his long list of accomplishments. NBA champion and Toronto Raptors’ star point guard has received an honorary doctorate degree in Humanities from Nova Scotia’s Acadia University.

Earlier in the year against the Milwaukee Bucks, Lowry eclipsed 10,000 points with the Raptors, joining Chris Bosh and DeMar DeRozan as the only players to reach that milestone with the franchise.

Acadia University noted some of Lowry’s achievements over the years in an official statement on April 24th announcing “The University will also award an honorary degree to 2016 Olympic gold medalist (U.S. Men’s Basketball) and Toronto Raptor Kyle Lowry. He rallied the nation when he led Canada’s only NBA franchise to an historic NBA championship victory in 2019.

The statement continued, “Lowry and his wife, Ayahna Cornish-Lowry, are committed to improving the lives of the disadvantaged in Toronto and Philadelphia to help them experience a better quality of life. Together, they set up the Lowry Love Foundation, a charity that gives back to the community.”

According to the university’s website, the Lowry Love Foundation has provided more than 200 well-stocked Thanksgiving food hampers to Toronto families in need for the fifth straight year. The Philadelphia native continues to embody what it means to be more than an athlete through his efforts on and off the court.
