Auto Finance News is proud to welcome a slate of diverse speakers to this year’s spring event, Auto Finance Accelerate 2019, to be held May 13-16 at the Omni San Diego.

The speaker faculty is quickly expanding with the addition of several top captives and banks.

Chase Auto’s Chief Marketing Officer Melinda Welsh will kick off the Auto Finance Sales & Marketing Summit on May 13, with a discussion that will delve into strategies for offering consumers a holistic approach for their auto finance needs and determining the dealer’s role in direct lending operations.

Welsh’s fireside chat will be followed by sessions featuring executives from Hyundai Capital America, Bank of America, Wells Fargo Auto, Westlake, and Oportun. Westlake Financial Services Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing Mark Vazquez will share best practices on presenting a company’s value proposition to attract more consumers.

Eric Halvorson, head of consumer and team member experience at Wells Fargo Auto, and Jim Landy, executive vice president and general manager of auto at Oportun, will discuss ways to communicate with customers who don’t talk on the phone. Meanwhile, Duane Freeman, senior vice president of consumer vehicle lending and national sales executive at Bank of America, and John Thacker, national sales director at Hyundai Capital America, will offer tips for synchronizing lending options and promoting them to consumers.

Day 2 will kick off the Auto Finance Innovation Summit — the industry event focused on today’s technology and tomorrow’s innovation-driven opportunities, held May 14-15. Industry veteran Georg Bauer, Fair’s co-founder and president, will participate in a fireside chat. Bauer has more than 30 years of experience shaping financial services for leading car companies on a global scale and is widely recognized as an innovative leader in auto finance.

Additionally, executives from U.S. Bank, CarFinance.com, and Tricolor Auto Group are set to discuss the challenges of information technology and practical applications for machine learning.

The Innovation Summit will also feature the DEMOvation Challenge, an opportunity for innovative companies to demonstrate their products for the audience.

The Auto Finance Risk Summit will round out the week-long Accelerate event series. Consumer Portfolio Services EVP and CFO Jeffrey Fritz will present a case-by-case look at how various scenarios will play out in auto finance as well as tips for maintaining yields in a rising rate environment.

Ally Financial’s Saloni Janveja, executive director of social media and marketing innovation will delve into social media risk, and HCA’s Vice President and Department Head of Consumer Risk James Vincent will take the stage for a panel discussion on improving risk management through digital transformation.

Regulators will also be featured at the event. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Auto Finance Manager Damion English and Kenneth Abbe, enforcement attorney in the Federal Trade Commission‘s Western region, will share updates on rules and guidance, as well as lender strategies to improve regulatory risk management.
