Drew Barrymore has been focusing on her health, fitness and diet regimens lately — and it’s paid off in the form of a 25-pound weight loss. But that doesn’t mean she’s thoroughly enjoying her change in habits!
On Monday, February 4, the Santa Clarita Diet star posted a photo of a slice of pizza behind glass with a tiny pizza cutter hammer on Instagram. The text on the glass read: “In Case of Emergency, Break Glass.” Never one to miss a joke, the World’s Best judge captioned the image, “This is exactly how I feel on my diet right now! thank you @plastikmagazine.”
Barrymore announced on Instagram on December 20, 2018, that she had lost 25 pounds over three months. She thanked Barre Belle founder Marnie Alton for helping make her “goals a reality.” And she made clear to her followers that her slim down didn’t just happen — she busted her butt for it! “This takes me so much work. Diet and exercise and fighting like a lion for it!” she wrote. “I just know that I have the control to be what I want. Even if it is hard AF!”
Since her original announcement, the Flower Beauty founder, 43, also shared a video of herself at a 305 Fitness session “getting my New Year’s Eve dance on because I am too old to go clubbing,” she wrote. The company offers dance cardio workouts set to the music of a live DJ, complete with light show.
As for her eating plan, on February 3, 2019, the body-positive actress posted a video expressing appreciation for her longtime nutritionist Kimberly Snyder and holding up her new book, Recipes for Your Perfectly Imperfect Life. The wellness guru, who is the creator of the Hollywood-beloved Glowing Green Smoothie, also has a new line of supplements. “She is my guru and a genius. And a great heart,” Barrymore wrote in the accompanying caption. “[If] you want to learn about everything from digestion to diet to inner peace, she is your girl. She cured me naturally [of] so many ailments. She is the real deal.”
Barrymore’s weight has fluctuated over her long career. In 2017, she lost about 20 pounds. At the time, she told Us that she had followed many of Snyder’s techniques when planning her meals — and struggled then too with not being able to eat exactly what she wanted. “I feel really great. I followed Kimberly Snyder’s methods, but I added some protein like fish and chicken since she’s all vegetarian or vegan,” she told Us. “I’ve been very disciplined and all I did was cry and dream about pizza. I still am dreaming and crying about pizza.”
