Fear the Walking Dead‘s Season 4 midseason finale contained a delightful blink-and-you-miss-it Easter egg for fans of mothership show The Walking Dead.

Per Comicbook.com, it was pointed out on Talking Dead that one of Althea the journalist’s (Maggie Grace) interview tapes was labeled “Abe/Doctor,” which means that at some point in her travels around Texas she encountered The Walking Dead‘s Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) and Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt), who were on a journey to Washington, D.C., where Dr. Eugene was supposedly going to work on a cure for the zombie virus (in truth, Eugene was lying, and he wasn’t a scientist at all, just an autodidact who was able to convince people he was in exchange for protection).

“I think it’s just a nice easter egg that shows how connected the universe is, so I don’t know if we’re ever actually going to see what was on this tape, but it is a fantastic way to see that the worlds are still connected,” Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick said.

When the Walking Dead/Fear the Walking Dead crossover was announced last year, it was widely speculated — including by TV Guide — that Abraham was going to be the character who made the move, since Fear the Walking Dead was set chronologically before The Walking Dead and was moving the action to Texas, where Abraham would have still been living at that time. Instead, the show jumped forward in time and Abraham, of course, was killed by Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) on The Walking Dead, and so far that’s been the end of his story. Morgan (Lennie James) made the move from The Walking Dead to Fear the Walking Dead instead.
