For the People Season 2 Episode 6 Sneak Peek: Leonard Knox Goes Toe to Toe with a Prolific Rival

For the People isn’t pulling any punches in its sophomore season. After telling a compelling story about immigration in the second episode, the Shondaland legal drama is digging into race. While the show hasn’t shied away from the imperfections of the justice system, Thursday’s episode will force Leonard (Regé-Jean Page) to confront his own blackness and privilege, and the weird way in which those two things intersect.

TV Guide has an exclusive clip from the episode in which Leonard goes toe-to-toe with one of the country’s most prolific litigators, played by TV icon Obba Babatunde. When the Johnnie Cochran-esque lawyer tries to call out Leonard for not standing with his people, Leonard finds his militant side real quick and wastes no time in reading his opponent for filth.

Everyone loves when Leonard is smarmy and confident, but there’s nothing like him when he’s fired up, and it’s clear that this case is going to get really personal for him. Will he be able to throw down like that when there’s a judge and jury in front of him? We can only hope!

For the People airs Thursdays at 10/9c on ABC.
