Slow and steady! That’s exactly how Khloé Kardashian is approaching her fitness and diet plan so she can maintain results post-baby.

“I’m still active, I still workout, but I’m not like ‘I have to lose 50 pounds in two months’ or whatever those expectations are,” the Revenge Body host recently revealed to Us Weekly. “It’s very normal to lose weight at a slow process. For me, that’s how I lost all my weight before and how it stayed off. I used to fluctuate weight because I would try all these diet fads and then I would gain the weight right back. I would always yo-yo. When I lost my weight and kept it off, it’s when I lost it slowly. I know that expression ‘the turtle wins the race’, ’cause now I know, OK, let me lose it in a healthy way’ so I keep it off, ’cause the last thing I want to do is yo-yo again in my life.”

Celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson, who has worked with the Good American designer for several years, agrees that she understands the best way to get herself and her body in a healthy place. “She definitely gets it,” Peterson told Us in July. “She gets the blueprint. She gets the template. She was with me for years, nonstop, every single day.”

According to Peterson, her dedication doesn’t waiver. “Khloé’s work ethic, that’s what doesn’t change,” Peterson told Us in August. “She understands that [working out], it’s a lifestyle.”

Although the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star says she knows what she wants — and needs — to work on during her sweat sessions, she feels surprisingly confident in her body so shortly after welcoming daughter True in April. “It’s so weird. I thought I would possibly be more insecure and I’m really not that insecure … I’m not at my body weight, so I definitely have the areas that I want to improve or this-or-that, but I’m more like, ‘You’re just … I’m badass,’” she shared with Us.

It’s this healthy mindset that is allowing her to build up to her get-fit goals. “I know that I just had a baby, I’m still really athletic, I’m still able to do all of these things. It’s just not my top, top priority — health and fitness is one of my major priorities but I feel good not putting so much pressure on myself,” she shared with Us. “I think society and, in this day and age, people show you these snap backs and you’re just like, ‘Oh, my God. How do they look like that in a week?’ You tend to even put the pressure on yourself but I’ve just been really enjoying these moments.”

Peterson notes that for Kardashian, the journey is as important as the finish line. “She’s embraced the process so it’s not always, ‘What’s my goal?’ Goals are great, but it’s about ‘What’s my process?’” Gunnar told Us.

The Strong Looks Better Naked author added that although she’s in a feel-good place, she’s always trying to be her best self. “I’m actually really comfortable in my skin but still not comfortable enough where I want to stay here,” she told Us. “I always like to improve but I’m doing it in my time.”
