Florence slammed ashore as a Category 1 hurricane on Friday, September 14.

The massive storm lingered over the Carolinas, leading to catastrophic and historic flooding.

“This is a monumental disaster for our state,” North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper said.

President Donald Trump traveled to the area on Wednesday to assess the federal response. At least 33 deaths have been attributed to the storm.
