Smallville and Beauty and the Beast star Kristin Kreuk is returning to The CW this summer with the legal drama Burden of Truth, the network announced on Thursday.
The CW has acquired the American broadcast rights to the series, which premiered on Canada’s CBC in January. It will air sometime this summer.
The 10-episode first season stars Kreuk as a big-city lawyer who returns to her small hometown after she’s passed over for a promotion and takes what she expects to be a simple case representing a large pharmaceutical corporation against a group of sick high school girls. But when the girls turn out to be sicker than anyone thought, she switches sides an starts unraveling a major conspiracy.
Kreuk is best known for playing Lana Lang on the long-running WB/CW superhero series Smallville and Catherine Chandler on The CW’s update of Beauty and the Beast, which ended in 2016.
