Is it just us, or does it feel like we’re going to be waiting forever for Legacies‘ second season to premiere? To help stave off the soul-crushing hiatus, we asked series stars Danielle Rose Russell and Matt Davis what they hope to see when the show returns to the CW this fall.

In addition to seeing a darker side of Hope now that she’s fallen in the Malivore pit, Russell isn’t ruling out the possibility of a relationship between Hope and Josie (Kaylee Bryant), should the story call for it. “I think that it’s really cool to have a female protagonist of a show be sexually fluid, and I think that’s, you know, something that I’m really proud to represent as well. If it ever made sense in the storyline, I would be so happy to do it… but if the story didn’t really permit for it, I don’t think that I’d really be for it.”

Right now, it feels like there’s still too much left to explore between Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) and Hope romantically, so we might have to table that wish for later. Considering the show’s incredibly successful first season, we expect there will be plenty of future seasons to get around to Hosie.

Every The Vampire Diaries and The Originals Easter Egg in Legacies Season 1

Russell isn’t the only one with romance on the brain though, since Davis is hoping for a new love interest for Alaric in Season 2. Davis says “a healthy love life” is at the top of his wish list for his character next year, which is something poor Alaric seems incapable of holding down. Over the course of The Vampire Diaries, Alaric lost his first wife to vampirism, then his girlfriend left town when he died (he came back, obviously), his second wife literally died during their wedding, and then he lost his fiancée and baby mama to a Salvatore brother. The poor guy just needs to find a stable girlfriend who can survive all his crazy magical shenanigans!

Speaking of that baby mama though, Davis is keeping his fingers crossed that we’ll one day get a visit from Caroline Forbes (Candice King) herself! “I would love for her to come by,” Davis said. “Candice [is] a mom, and she’s enjoying her life right now. She’s always welcome to come through if that’s what she wants to do because Caroline would be a welcome addition to our storyline.”

Legacies will return on Thursdays this fall on The CW.
