NAACP Image Awards Nominations 2019: Power, black-ish and Queen Sugar Honored

The 50th NAACP Image Awards will air live Saturday, March 30 at 9/8c on TV One. The NAACP announced the nominees Wednesday morning during TV One’s presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. Dear White People‘s Logan Browning and Black Panther‘s Winston Duke were on hand to reveal the shows, films and entertainers who are being honored this year.

On the TV side, Queen Sugar, Power and black-ish led the nominees with three nods each. grown-ish, the Freeform spin-off of ABC’s black-ish, received two. In film, Black Panther dominated, receiving six nominations in the motion picture categories; in addition, Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s song for the film, “All the Stars,” received a nomination in the recording categories. If Beale Street Could Talk received five nods, while The Hate U Give received three.
