People are talking about Netflix’s chilling new docuseries Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Files — but the streaming service has noticed a disturbing trend in the chatter around the series’ subject, real-life serial murderer Ted Bundy. Apparently, some viewers are focused on his looks.

To be fair, Bundy’s supposed charm has long been a talking point in conversations around his killing spree, with some people suggesting that his persona played a role in how he was able to conceal his inner evil from victims and authorities alike. It’s not like this discussion is a new one.

Even so, the streaming service is disturbed by online reactions to Bundy in the docuseries. On Monday, the official Netflix Twitter account addressed the issue, writing, “I’ve seen a lot of talk about Ted Bundy’s alleged hotness and would like to gently remind everyone that there are literally THOUSANDS of hot men on the service – almost all of whom are not convicted serial murderers.”

The tweet is especially funny given that it was Netflix that re-released and popularized the first season of Lifetime’s YOU, a series centered on Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley), a very different stalker-turned-murderer who inspired an uncomfortable amount of adulation from the show’s viewers. The Joe Goldberg fanfare got so bad that Penn Badgley himself decided to speak out against fans lusting for his character.

This isn’t the first time Netflix has addressed fans’ unhealthy responses to the streaming service’s biggest hits, either.

Earlier this month, Netflix pleaded with fans of Bird Box to take care when trying to complete the viral Bird Box challenge, which involves trying to do otherwise ordinary tasks while blindfolded — just as Sandra Bullock‘s character, and others in the film, had to do to avoid seeing the monsters that would strip them of the will to live.

“Can’t believe I have to say this,” the streaming service tweeted, “but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE.”
