Nina Dobrev, who has been the face of Reebok’s Les Mills collection since 2017, is making a case for women-only campaigns.

“I feel like it shouldn’t be a special thing. It should just be a norm,” the 29-year-old actress exclusively shared with Us Weekly on Thursday, September 27, in New York City at the Dance, Sweat, and Donate event with Reebok and Les Mills. “I’m glad that it’s happening more and more. I hope it … happens [so] much that it’s not a headline.

She continued: “Women are so important, and I’ve had so many female role models in my life. I think it’s great that we’re doing a female campaign with all these amazing women to be the role models for the next generation.”

The former Vampire Diaries star is part of the fitness brands’s ‘Be More Human’ campaign, which is donating proceeds from her Reebok T-shirt design to women-centric endeavors, including the Women’s Strength Coalition and Movement Foundation. (Other ambassadors include Gigi Hadid, Ariana Grande, Gal Gadot and Ronda Rousey.)

“Confidence has no competition,” the Canadian native captioned a video of herself on Instagram on Thursday, September 27, wearing a Reebok sports bra and leggings while dancing her way out of an elevator. “I worked with Reebok to design my own T-shirt and with every purchase, @REEBOK WILL DONATE 100% of the proceeds to two awesome foundations: @movemeant & @womensstrengthcoalition!”

For Dobrev, confidence and fitness go hand in hand. “I think that by working out, you end up being more confident because you feel good,” she shared with Us. “When you look good, you feel good and when feel good, you’re confident and you shine through so you’re so only working on your internal wellbeing but your external well-being at the same time.”

The Degrassi: The Next Generation star added that working out her mind, along with her body, is key to feeling confident. “If I keep my mind sharp, I feel like I can keep up in conversation and I can be funny and have intellectual, interesting conversations with people and that leads to connection. Having connection with people is important — and that gives me confidence,” she told Us.

To stay physically fit, Dobrev said she prefers dance-base sweat sessions over more mainstream gym workouts. “Lissa [Bankston] and I work with all the time with Les Mills and Reebok,” she told Us. “[Dance is] not only a great workout … it’ll make you feel like you’re not working out because it’s fun and it’s challenging and your mind is occupied but it’s dance, so you’re just moving your body.”
