‘Tis the season to block some clocks!
A new teaser trailer for the Timeless series finale has arrived, and while it doesn’t give much away, it does give Rufus (Malcolm Barrett) the one line we’re always happy to hear around the holidays: “Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals!” Considering he’s supposed to be dead, it’s an impressively quippy entrance. We’ve got no clue how exactly Lucy (Abigail Spencer) and Wyatt (Matt Lanter) will bring him back to life in the two-hour wrap-up movie, but you won’t hear us complaining. Rufus lives!
Timeless‘s final episode will attempt to explain the monstrous WTF fans have had to deal with since the closing seconds of the Season 2 finale, when the bunker received a visit from a new and improved Lifeboat and out stepped Lucy and Wyatt — from the future. They had a simple request for the whole team, including their duplicates: “You guys want to get Rufus back or what?” All in all, this series finale has a lot of loose ends to tie up and not a lot of time (pun totally intended) to do it.

“I just feel like hopefully it’s a thing where its satisfying and unsatisfying because ultimately, the audience is living with what will become of the characters,” Spencer previously told TV Guide of the series finale. “All of the characters will make sacrifices, and they all make choices. That’s a big thing we deal with on the show. Do things just happen to you because its history, or do you have a say in it? Every character makes a choice which is a really huge arc and a huge lesson of the show.”
The Timeless series finale airs Thursday, Dec. 20 at 8/7c on NBC.
