Hulu released the trailer for The First, and boy will it get you excited about the human race’s inevitable domination space.
An adaptation of the British Channel 4 series, The First is a serious, heady and, from the looks of it, moving series that follows the first mission to Mars, and the challenges inherent in colonizing the red planet. Written and produced by Beau Willimon of House of Cards fame and starring two-time Oscar winner Sean Penn, The First appears to have all the requisite elements of a soaring prestige sci-fi drama: people standing in front of a giant computer system, people screaming “Nooo!” and throwing things and super-cool training exercises like running in a pool.
The First, which also stars Natascha McElhone, focuses not only on the people going on NASA’s most elite mission, but also on their loved ones and colleagues back on Earth.
The First debuts on Hulu Friday, September 14.
