The resistance is ending.

The upcoming fourth season of The Man in the High Castle will be its last, Amazon announced on Tuesday. Deadline was first to break the news. The streaming service softened the blow with a new trailer that promises an action-packed final season.

The hit dystopian drama, based on Philip K. Dick’s 1962 novel of the same name, depicts an alternate history in which the Axis powers won World War II and divided up the United States under their command. Alexa Davalos and Rufus Sewell star.

“It has been a great privilege to work alongside our extraordinary High Castle team, in partnership with David Zucker and Scott Free, to bring my father’s classic novel to life, particularly during this tumultuous period in our real world,” said executive producer Isa Dick Hackett, Philip K. Dick’s daughter, in a statement. “I believe fans will be thrilled and satisfied by the epic conclusion we have in store for them.”

Speaking with Deadline, Hackett said that she believes the series’ ending is in line with the spirit of her father’s novel, promising, “We end on something that would be very familiar and I think particularly satisfying for PKD fans, and I would imagine that he would appreciate it a great deal.”

As for whether the story could live on in other forms, executive producer David Zucker sounded hopeful, telling Deadline, “It is very provocative to think about what stories may come thereafter. Whether or not we all get to tell them or they get told in another incarnation in film and television, that’s for us to all see. However, I don’t think you can look at this as an absolute culmination because of the nature of the stories that we’re telling.”

The Man in the High Castle Season 4 premieres on Amazon in the fall of 2019. Seasons 1-3 are available to stream on Amazon now.
