If you thought all the sex on Grey’s Anatomy was reason to be worried about doctors being distracted during surgery, The Resident is here to up the ante.
In next week’s episode of the Fox medical drama that routinely terrifies us out of wanting to step foot in a hospital, Mina (Shaunette Renée Wilson) is getting checked out for a head injury that is now causing mild amnesia. What’s also happening is that her spells of memory loss are coming after a night of hard drinking, which is the least Mina activity we can think of.

Despite these intensely alarming symptoms, Mina thinks that she’s going to scrub in on a surgery where a man’s heart is on the wrong side of his chest. That does sound super cool, but woman you can’t operate in your condition! What if you forget how a scalpel works mid-surgery?! Luckily, AJ (Malcolm Jamal Warner) overhears what’s going on and tells Devin (Manish Dayal) to cuff her to the bed to stop her if necessary. We’re worried Devin wouldn’t survive if he tried, but for the love of God, Mina, don’t go to that surgery.
