If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Kelly Clarkson since she became a coach on The Voice, it’s that she tends to bend every ear she can. Her love of talking has obviously worked out well for her on the series, of course — she walked away with back-to-back wins in her first two seasons thanks in no small part to her ability to convince promising contestants to sign up for her squad, and she’s got her very own talk show on the way this month as well. And from the looks of this exclusive preview of The Voice Season 17, she’s going to waste no time getting into the gab game this fall as well.
This Kelly-centric preview reveals that this season’s co-coaches Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and John Legend will be both impressed and a bit annoyed by how many words she can squeeze into a small space of time — her talkativeness even seems to set up Blake’s next big frenemance, now that Adam Levine‘s out of the picture.
When Does The Voice Return for Season 17?
As Shelton complains, “I don’t even know how she gets her own words in between her own words.” However, for Clarkson, becoming known for her verbosity means Voice fans are getting to know the true her.
“I just love talking. I have since I was a kid. That’s the only thing that I ever got in trouble for was talking too much in class. But I love people, and I love stories. And I love finding commonalities in people. Even though we think we’re super different, we all have similarities as well,” she explains in the clip. “I think The Voice helped in a sense of like, people knew I was a singer but maybe didn’t know my personality. Like, I’m just going to be me, so The Voice definitely helped get that across more. I like to be a goofball, and I like to laugh and talk. And Blake loves my talking.”
That last bit may or may not be true, but at least we know she’s going to get plenty of vocal exercise in by doubling up with The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Voice this fall.
