A well-known Manhattan dance instructor was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 16-year-old student, police said.

David Marquez, 53, of Washington Heights, allegedly touched the 16-year-old boy’s genitals over his clothing on Aug. 15, 2017, the NYPD said.

The alleged incident was reported on March 29 of last year, according to police. It wasn’t immediately clear why Marquez was only arrested on Wednesday.

Police say the student Marquez allegedly abused came to Manhattan from out of state for dance lessons. The abuse allegedly took place at Marquez’ Washington Heights apartment.

The instructor has been charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse, the NYPD said.

His attorney information wasn’t immediately available Wednesday. He didn’t comment to reporters as he was led from a police station in handcuffs.

Marquez has done work on Broadway shows, and worked as an instructor at the Broadway Dance Center. In a statement Wednesday, a spokeswoman said he hasn’t worked there since 2017 but just learned of Marquez’s arrest and is cooperating with the police investigation.

“Broadway Dance Center expects that all of its personnel conduct themselves with the highest integrity in accordance with its code of conduct,” said the sspokeswoman.
