Two women are dead after they were pulled from a burning home on Long Island, officials say.

Firefighters were called to the burning house on Sinn Street in Patchogue at around 1:30 a.m. Monday and found the two women inside home, according to authorities.

A 47-year-old man was found going in and out of consciousness in a basement apartment of the home and was rescued. He was taken to an area hospital to be treated. A police officer suffered a minor back injury rescuing him.

The identities of the two women who died were not immediately released.

It’s not yet clear what may have sparked the blaze, but officials said it doesn’t appear to be criminal. The home did not have smoke alarms.
