[Read Across Afghanistan, Scores Are Killed in a Deadly Wave of Violence]

Sept. 9 Sar-i-pul Province: 17 security forces killed

The Taliban attacked the Sayyad District and the provincial capital, Sar-i-Pul city, from different directions, killing 17 members of the security forces. Afghan airstrikes responding to the attack killed 39 Taliban fighters. Elsewhere in Sar-i-pul city, Afghan soldiers abandoned a military base in the Balghali area after a Taliban attack.

Sept. 9 Baghlan Province: 22 to 40 security forces killed

The Afghan National Army base at Mangalha village, in the Baghlan-e-Markazi District just north of the provincial capital of Pul-i-Kumri, was completely surrounded by insurgents, with from 22 to 40 security officials killed.

Sept. 9 Wardak Province: district police chief and nine security officials killed

Taliban insurgents attacked the headquarters of Day Mirdad District, killing the district police chief and nine other security officials. Officials said 52 of the militants were killed and 65 others wounded in the attack.

Sept. 8 Herat Province: nine police officers killed

The Taliban attacked a police post in the Obe District, killing nine police officers. Officials said eight insurgents were also killed.

Sept 8 Baghlan Province: nine to 16 soldiers killed, base falls

An army base in Mangalha village, Baghlan-e-Markazi District, was attacked and captured by the Taliban; a police outpost also fell to them. Official estimates of the dead ranged from nine to 16 on the government side, including pro-government militias, police and soldiers.

Sept 6. Farah Province, five to nine policemen killed

The Taliban attacked a police outpost in the outskirt of Farah city, killing five policemen. Four other policemen disappeared from the outpost.

Sept 6. Jowzjan Province, seven pro-government militia killed

The Taliban attacked and captured the outpost of a pro-government militia in Mengajik District, killing seven of them.
