Arrow fans may now be in on the big Mia Smoak (Katherine McNamara) secret, but the one person who was still in the dark that he was about to be a father (again) was Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell).
Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) got the call at the end of Episode 13 that she was pregnant, so naturally, Olicity fans have been going stir crazy during the recent hiatus, desperate to see how and when and why Felicity would drop the news on her hubby. In true Arrow fashion, it didn’t happen exactly as expected or planned, but that just made it all the more fitting.
After finding out that Diggle (David Ramsey) had put Diaz (Kirk Acevedo) in the Ghost Initiative, essentially setting him loose on the world, Felicity decided that she and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) needed to team up again in order to finish him off. Um, she probably can’t blame “Operation Blow the Head Off the Dragon” on pregnancy brain, can she? Consequently, Laurel actually became the first person to get the news, but only because she realized their mission didn’t include wine, champagne, or caffeine but it did contain six empty cupcake wrappers.

Luckily, Laurel didn’t just swing by to throw judgey looks about chocolate overdoses. She realized that Felicity’s recent bloodlust wasn’t hormones, it was fear. What Felicity needed was a little pep talk about how awesome she was and how she could and would succeed at keeping her family safe if she just remembered that.
That didn’t mean she wasn’t dead set on keeping an eye on Diaz though, which is why both Oliver and Felicity joined the Ghost Initiative’s latest op. And as predicted, Diaz attempted a double cross and an escape, which Felicity foiled without having to kill him. See, you didn’t need the feather to fly, Dumbo!
Afterward, Felicity and Oliver debriefed over a pint of mint chip ice cream, and she gave him the good news that he was going to be a dad — more or less. When he asked why she didn’t kill Diaz, she said she wanted to start their new family in the light, where their children would know that their parents would do anything for them. Oliver, taking the hint, realized she said children instead of child, and then all the huggles ensued!
The episode didn’t end on that lovely high note though. It closed out with Diaz back in prison, getting doused with gasoline and set on fire in his cell by a mysterious murderer. Wow. That doesn’t scream Felicity or even Laurel to us, so who the heck could have killed this guy?
