Three gun-wielding, masked bandits injured one person while robbing a motel clerk and six patrons in the front lobby of the Econo Lodge near Denver International Airport early Wednesday morning.
“It’s certainly a concerning crime because of the brazen nature of the suspects,” said Bill Hummel, Aurora police spokesman.
At 3:15 a.m., the suspects walked into the motel lobby at 15900 E. 40th Avenue and brandished guns, Hummel said.
They demanded personal possessions of the motel patrons and money from the motel employee, Hummel said.
It’s unclear what led to the injury of one of the victims. The injury was minor, he said.
The victims did not see the suspects getting into a car while they fled, he said.
The motel gets a lot of business from DIA, Hummel said.
