5 Things to Watch Today – July 11, 2017

Brace yourselves, Bachelor Nation, Bachelor in Paradise is closer than you think!

Bachelor in Paradise Season 5 will premiere Tuesday, August 7 at 8/7c on ABC, and then continue to air Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c into the fall. We already know that this season will include one magical engagement when former Paradise contestant Jared Haibon gets on knee for Ashley Iaconetti to prove to the other potential love birds that love is real. The couple met on Paradise in 2015 but spent almost three years as friends before officially entering a romantic relationship. Bachelor Nation got to watch many of their ups and downs on national television so it is only right we get to experience this joyous occasion with them as well.

Who will be the contestants looking to Jared and Ashley for inspiration though? Fan favorite from Arie‘s awkward season of The Bachelor Bekah Martinez is the only confirmed cast member for the upcoming season. She’s a young one at only 23-years of age but she impressed viewers with her no bulls–t attitude and a maturity that went beyond many of her much older castmates. However….

WARNING SERIOUS POTENTIAL BACHELORETTE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Bekah got into a Twitter feud with Raven Gates on June 18 over Tia Booth and Colton Underwood’s recent meeting on The Bachelorette. Bekah called the former couple out for lying to Becca about their alleged lack of lingering feelings by saying they both went to Paradise for each other. Colton is not only still a contestant on The Bachelorette, but he’s one of Becca’s frontrunners so this news could wreck a few Bachelorette brackets (but also be a sigh of relief to the large contingent of fans who think Colton isn’t on the show for the right reasons). According to Us Weekly, ABC has declined to comment on this piece of casting news.

ABC has also announced the premiere date for their newest series, Castaways, which will air after Bachelor in Paradise on Tuesdays at 10/9c. Castaways will strand 12 diverse individuals alone throughout various islets in Indonesia, challenging them to survive among washed-up luggage, scattered resources and abandoned structures. Each individual will eventually learn there are other castaways out there but are unaware of how many, their locations or when they will be rescued.
