It looks like we’ll have to stick to the local news if we want to see people screaming about impeachment on our TVs every week. History has officially scrapped its plans to create a drama series based on the impeachment of Bill Clinton.

Based on Peter Baker’s New York Times best-selling novel The Breach: Inside the Impeachment and Trial of William Jefferson Clinton, History’s would-be series The Breach: Inside the Impeachment of Bill Clinton was picked up straight to series back in September. This six-part scripted miniseries planned to detail how the Lewinsky scandal unfolded as well as the political clashes both within and outside of the Clinton Administration.

According the The Hollywood Reporter, the project had trouble finding an actor to fill the role of Bill Clinton, and an A&E spokesperson told THR today that the decision to throw out the project had been made “a while ago.”

In case you’re wondering if there’s an echo in here, you’re not wrong.

Ryan Murphy‘s plans to develop a Monica Lewinsky-themed season of American Crime Story on FX were also mysteriously scrapped today. “I told [Monica Lewinsky], ‘Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do. If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer and you should make all the goddamn money,'” Murphy said.

Two Clinton projects killed on the same day definitely feels fishy, but as of yet there has been no reported connection.
