Chicago P.D.: Are Ruzek and Upton Your Favorite New Couple?

Clocking long hours on intense cases makes interoffice romances inevitable on Chicago P.D., and Intelligence’s newest couple has their work cut out for them.

Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Upton’s (Tracy Spiridakos) secret affair began innocently enough when the pair hit up a local bar to blow off some steam after an intense case hit too close to home. The night ended with a hot and heavy hookup that continued in the days that followed and thus, a new romance was born.

But as we’ve seen in the past, dipping into the office cookie jar isn’t all it’s cracked up to be; these workplace romances tend to crash and burn. Erin’s (Sophia Bush) sudden departure at the end of Season 4 left Jay (Jesse Lee Soffer) a heartbroken mess and he barely recovered from a self-destructive tailspin. Ruzek and Burgess’ (Marina Squerciati) on-again, off-again love affair also bit the dust in Season 5. However, those two managed to remain friends.

Perhaps things will be different for Upton and Ruzek. After all, the pair is enjoying a casual–albeit top secret–fling that may end before you know it. On the other hand, their undeniable chemistry combined with a decent friendship could also lead to something more serious down the line.
