Cleveland Cavaliers guard Rajon Rondo will be out approximately two weeks with a sprained right big toe, the team announced Friday.

Rondo, who is averaging 5.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists this season, suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s 106-103 loss to the Detroit Pistons. He had 12 points and nine assists in 26 minutes.

He underwent an MRI on Friday at the Cleveland Sports Clinic, which confirmed the injury.

The Cavaliers said Rondo would undergo treatment and rehabilitation prior to his return.

Rondo has played 14 games with the Cavaliers since he was acquired in a January trade with the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Denzel Valentine.

The Cavaliers are scheduled to play the Washington Wizards on Saturday. Cleveland also will be without Darius Garland, who is undergoing treatment for a sore lower back, and Caris LeVert, who will miss approximately one to two weeks with a sprained right foot.

The Cavs have had to overcome injuries all season — leading scorer Collin Sexton and guard Ricky Rubio were lost for the year to knee injuries — and are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference at 35-24.
