5 Things to Watch Today – July 11, 2017

We finally have our first look at the new Charmed Ones in CW’s divisive Charmed reboot.

On Thursday, the network dropped a preview of the upcoming series, which immediately sets itself apart from The WB original. In the trailer, we watch as two sisters discover they have an older sister (who they had no idea existed) after the death of their mother. And as if that wasn’t enough to process, the three women then discover they’re also witches!

The reboot stars Madeleine Mantock as Macy, the eldest sister who’s described as a brilliant and driven geneticist whose world is most shaken up by this shocking revelation. Melonie Diaz will play Mel, the middle sister who also happens to be a gay activist. Rounding out the trio is Sarah Jeffery as Madison, the youngest sister who’s a college freshman and not so thrilled about her charmed destiny messing up her dreams of being a sorority girl.

The reboot is based on a story by Jane the Virgin creator Jennie Snyder Urman, who will also executive-produce. If you’re holding out for a cameo by the OG sisters, maybe don’t get your hopes up. The original Power of Three — Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano and later, Rose McGowan — will not be involved with the project.

The Charmed reboot airs Sundays at 9/8c on The CW.

(Full disclosure: TV Guide is owned by CBS, one of The CW’s parent companies.)
