While you may be preparing for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner, it’s important to keep in mind the main food event of February which happens before February 14: the Super Bowl. The sporting event is huge even if you’re not a football fan because of the highly anticipated commercials and Super Bowl foods every watch party needs. Google released data about the most-searched food items in each state for the big game and it’s pretty clear that everyone is into dips.

There are several ways you can host a Super Bowl party safely at home while still participating in your usual traditions. Of course, the easiest thing to do is to go ahead and prepare the same appetizers and small bites you typically munch on during the game. Let’s be honest—the food is the best part anyway. Google released information regarding search terms around this time of year before the big game and tweeted out a map of the United States to show what dishes got the most search traction leading up to the game.

To better break down each state’s preferences, the map color coded every area with a key to differentiate between main dishes, side dishes, appetizers, dips and desserts. Dips were coded with the color yellow and with even just a quick look, it’s clear that dips are overwhelmingly the winner as far as food preferences for game day.

Exactly which dips still varied from state to state with the most popular being seven-layer dip, buffalo chicken dip and spinach artichoke. Honorable mentions for most popular Super Bowl snacks include cake, chili and pigs in a blanket. Hungry yet? Get planning for your own Super Bowl spread!
