An inmate at the Montrose County jail was found unresponsive in his cell at 12:04 a.m. Friday, authorities say.
Jail staff and emergency medical services performed CPR on the man immediately before the inmate was taken to Montrose Memorial Hospital. He was later pronounced dead according to a news release by the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office.
The inmate’s name has not been released.
The Montrose County Coroner’s Office and the Seventh Judicial District’s Critical Incident Team are investigating the cause of death.
