The NFL knew that if they were going to hold the Super Bowl in Miami they would need a hot halftime show, and it’s now official: They’re bringing the heat. The NFL confirmed on Thursday that Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will headline the Super Bowl LIV halftime show in 2020.
The songstresses both teased the big announcement on their own respective Twitter accounts before the NFL confirmed the news. J. Lo has been dodging rumors that she could be headlining the show all summer, telling Entertainment Tonight in July, “Yeah, I’ve thought about the Super Bowl and it’s in Miami. It’s a big deal, but we’ll see. They make their own decisions over there.”

The halftime show could kick off a banner February for J. Lo, who has a lot of early momentum for awards season thanks to her work in Hustlers. She could potentially be the first person with an acting Oscar nod to perform at the Super Bowl (Lady Gaga got her Oscar nomination after performing at the big show, as did Queen Latifah, who performed in the 1998 show).
This will be the first time at the Super Bowl halftime show for both J.Lo and Shakira, and it will be the first time they’ve performed on stage together, so you can definitely expect something epic.
Super Bowl LIV airs Sunday, Feb. 2 on Fox.
