In a move that should surprise literally no one, Netflix renewed Jessica Jones for a third season today.

As a key team member of The Defenders and a standout amongst the other Marvel content on Netflix, Jessica Jones was an easy renewal choice for the streaming service, even if its second season wasn’t quite as critically acclaimed as its first.

There aren’t too many details about where Season 3 will go yet, but we’ve got a pretty good guess — and it has everything do to with Jessica’s (Krysten Ritter) best friend Trish (Rachael Taylor).

“Trish has always had everything,” executive producer Melissa Rosenberg told TV Guide. “She has it all. She’s got talent, looks, fame, success, social grace. People like her. She has everything Jessica doesn’t. The one thing she doesn’t have is what Jessica has, which is power.”

That may change in Season 3, since last season’s finale appeared to hint that Trish was, in fact, developing powers thanks to the “failed” experiment from Dr. Karl Malus Callum Keith Rennie). Time will tell!

Unfortunately, we might be in for another long hiatus between Seasons 2 and 3. Fans had to wait more than two years between the first and second season of the show, and considering other Marvel properties (possibly including The Defenders) are also waiting on new seasons, another installment of Jessica Jones probably isn’t on the immediate roster.

Jessica Jones’ first two seasons are available to stream on Netflix.
