CBS loves its multi-camera comedies with famous leading men at the center, which is why it’s pretty surprising that it just canceled Kevin Can Wait, reports TV Line. The sitcom, starring Paul Blart himself Kevin James, just wrapped up its second season as CBS’ fourth-highest rated comedy behind The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon and Mom and sixth-highest rated series overall.

The second season of Kevin Can Wait underwent a massive creative overhaul by killing off Kevin’s wife (played by Erinn Hayes) between seasons as it shifted its focus to be about a man dealing with the loss of his wife rather than a family-oriented comedy. Hayes was essentially replaced by Leah Remini, James’ former co-star on The King of Queens, but their characters were never put together as a couple.

In less surprising news, CBS has made it official and canceled 9JKL, Wisdom of the Crowd and Me, Myself and I, according to TV Line. All three had been expected to be canceled.

CBS will announce its 2018-2019 fall TV schedule next week.
