Kyrie Irving will miss Friday’s game against the Boston Celtics in Brooklyn, the Nets announced Thursday, marking the eighth game Irving has missed due to a right shoulder impingement.

Irving did not make the Nets’ most recent road trip, including a game in Boston on Wednesday. His absence was noted by fans in TD Garden, who booed and sported signs denouncing the former Celtics star.

“It happens all the time and Tonight just shows how Sports/Entertainment will always be ignorant and obtrusive,” Irving said at the start of a lengthy post via an Instagram story after Wednesday’s game. “It’s one big SHOW that means Very VERY little in the real world that most people live in because there are Actually things that matter going on within it.”

In the fall of 2018, Irving told an arena full of Celtics fans that he intended to re-sign with Boston during his 2019 free agency. Instead, he chose to join the Nets alongside Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan.

After Boston, the Nets host the Miami Heat on Sunday and travel to Atlanta for a game on Wednesday.
