People With Disabilities Sound Off On How Hollywood Can Do Better

There seems to be no more dangerous job than that of a Hollywood stunt man — at least in the case of Justin Sundquist, who was injured on the set of MacGyver in Atlanta today.

Deadline reports that Sundquist was filming a stunt that involved transferring from one vehicle to another. Though he was conscious after the accident, he’s since been put into a medically induced coma due to the seriousness of his head injury.

“We have learned about an injury to stunt coordinator Justin Sundquist that occurred late Monday on the set of MacGyver in Atlanta,” CBS TV Studio said in a statement to Deadline. “The production team is cooperating with the authorities investigating the accident, and our primary concern at this time is Justin’s health and well-being.”

This injury is not the first to befall Sundquist unfortunately. Last year, Sundquist sued CBS Corp. and CBS TV Studios for another accident, claiming he was struck by a vehicle during a stunt sequence. According to Sundquist’s claim, “a key personnel who had safety responsibilities was under the influence of narcotic controlled substances, which caused and/or contributed to Mr. Sundquist’s injuries and damages.” The suit also accused said individual of arranging a quid pro quo arrangement where stuntmen were supplied with work in exchange for supplying him with pills.

There has been no update on that suit yet, but now that Sudnquist has been injured while working on another CBS property, it’s likely the case just got a lot more complicated.
