Just after midnight on Friday, a Weld County Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse for a traffic violation as the car was headed north on Interstate 25 near Mead, according to a Weld County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Instead of stopping, the Mitsubishi took off, leading the sheriff’s office on a short chase that ended near Weld County Road 34 and the east I-25 frontage road, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver, 22-year-old Dakota Austin Huscher, was taken into custody.

“Due to several indications of possible criminal activity, a search of the vehicle was conducted,” the sheriff’s office said.

When authorities combed the Mitsubishi, they discovered a whole slew of drugs — mostly mushrooms — including: 10.4 grams of methamphetamines; 14 ounces of marijuana; 172.7 grams of mushrooms; 24.9 grams of heroin; 19.1 grams of cocaine; 4.8 grams of LSD; and 9.2 grams of marijuana concentrate.

The sheriff’s office also found a loaded handgun and a sawed-off shotgun in the car.
