NBC Fall TV Lineup 2018 – This Is Us, The Blacklist – Today’s News: Our Take

Networks announcing their new schedules isn’t the sexiest of news, but it is some of the most important. The new fall lineup sets the tone for the entire year to come, and in some cases even signals the beginning of the end for certain shows as they find themselves moving to less desirable timeslots. It’s also a perfect early indicator for what series the network is most invested in, as they shift things around to put the promising new projects in the most high-profile (read: post-The Voice and This Is Us) time slots.

For the 2018-2019 season, it appears NBC is high on Josh Dallas‘ Manifest because it nabbed the honor of landing behind the ratings mega-hit The Voice on Mondays. Meanwhile, This Is Us stays in its 9/8c time slot on Tuesdays, leading into the premiere of Ryan Eggold‘s medical drama New Amsterdam.

Wednesdays now belong to One Chicago, with Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.airing back-to-back-to-back. As a result, fellow Dick Wolf procedural Law & Order: SVU is moving to Thursdays at 10/9c.

In less fortunate news, The Blacklist is getting bumped to Fridays at 9/8c and won’t return until January. The good news, though, is that it will air without hiatuses. The network also has yet to make a decision whether or not to renew Eric Kripke‘s time-traveling drama Timeless and freshmen comedy Champions.

MIDSEASON

The network is holding out until midseason to launch the heartfelt ensemble drama The Village, the Jennifer Carpenter spy thriller The Enemy Within, and the clairvoyant procedural The InBetween. New comedy Abby’s from Mike Schur and non-scripted series America’s Got Talent: The Champions, Ellen’s Game of Games, World of Dance and The Titan Games, a competitive series from Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, will also debut in the spring.

In addition to The Blacklist, on the returning side, fans will have to wait until midseason to see what’s next on Good Girls, A.P. Bio and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which is moving to NBC from Fox for its upcoming sixth season.
