An NYPD officer has been shot in the leg while executing a search warrant in Brooklyn, law enforcement sources tell News 4.

The officer was shot around 6:30 a.m. Friday on Decatur Street in Bed-Stuy and a suspect is in custody, the sources say. It wasn’t clear if the suspect was involved in the gunfire, and sources say cops are looking for at least one other person.

It’s also not clear how the officer was shot — whether someone shot the cop or the officer’s gun fired during a struggle. The NYPD confirmed an officer had been “injured” and taken to a hospital; sources said the cop is expected to survive.

The nature of the search warrant the cop was conducting wasn’t clear. The NYPD said to expect a heavy police presence in the area near Decatur Street and Tompkins Avenue through the morning.
