A police officer was killed in a crash in New Jersey, sources confirmed to NBC 4 New York.
The Paterson officer struck a parked car, the sources said. The crash was on Getty Avenue.
Sources with the city identified the officer as Tamby Yagan.
The officer was on duty at the time, a source said.
Paterson police and the Passaic County prosecutor’s office didn’t immediately confirm any details.
The Passaic County Sheriff’s Office tweeted condolences to the Paterson Police Department and the officer’s family.
The Sheriff Berdnik and the members of the PCSO would like to extend thoughts and prayers and our sincere condolences to the entire Yagan Family, Paterson Police, and many others who experienced today’s tremendous lost.
