Freeform dropped some devastating news on Monday when it announced that Shadowhunters would end after three seasons. With the show currently in hiatus, the final episodes — which will be called Shadowhunters: The Final Hunt — will air in 2019, and the two-hour finale will now serve as the series finale.

For those of you who feel like you’ve been hit by a brick wall, you’re not alone. The cast, who found out at the same time you did, were equally shocked about the cancelation. Many took to Twitter to voice their heartbreak, including Katherine McNamara who thanked fans for the overwhelming support.

“We just found out too — and believe me we are just as shocked as you are,” she wrote. “The love this fandom has for the source material, the show, the artists, and for each other is a force to be reckoned with like nothing I have seen before. No matter what happens from here, I promise you this. By the angel, will make you the most rock solid, badass, magical finale you could imagine.”

Dominic Sherwood echoed her sentiments, also thanking fans for the massive outpour of love. “It has been my privilege to be a part of this world. @ShadowhuntersTV team have been so close to my heart for 3 years. You. The fans. Make us happy and strong and proud. Thank you. For everything. We say goodbye with a heavy heart but our heads..eld high. We love you. Forever and always,” he added.

Others from the cast also voiced their devastation at the show’s cancelation and pushed for it to be saved including Matthew Daddario, Harry Shum Jr., Alisha Wainwright, and showrunners Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin.

Shadowhunters will end its run in 2019.
