After the addition of Kirk Cousins in Atlanta, Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder has been traded to the Arizona Cardinals for wide receiver Rondale Moore, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday.

Ridder started 17 games for Atlanta over the past two seasons, throwing for 3,544 yards with 14 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Ridder had been named the Falcons’ starting quarterback before the 2023 season, but he was benched twice in favor of Taylor Heinicke.

One of Ridder’s biggest issues last season was ball security: In addition to 12 interceptions in 2023, he also had 12 fumbles.

In Ridder, the Cardinals get a potential back up Kyler Murray. Arizona already has Clayton Tune on the roster. He had just one start last season the week before Murray returned.

Moore was the Cardinals’ second round pick in 2021 but couldn’t find the right in Arizona under two different coaching staffs. He was utilized for his speed sideline-to-sideline and in returns, at times, but wasn’t used as much in the vertical game.

Moore caught 40 passes for 352 yards last season.
