Syfy is expanding their collection of graphic novel adaptations with Deadly Class. The network announced it was picking up the pilot based on Rick Remender and Wes Craig’s 2014 graphic novel of the same name to series.

The Deadly Class follows a homeless teen in the late 80s who is recruited into an elite private school set up for the world’s most elite crime families’ spawn. He must learn to survive with these maturing ruthless killers while also maintaining his own moral code.

Mr. Robot‘s B.D. Wong leads the cast that includes Benjamin Wadsworth, Lana Condor, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Luke Tennie, Liam James and Michel Duval. The show was written for TV by Remender and Miles Orion Feldsott, who will also serve as executive producers alongside The Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo and Mike Larocca.

The Deadly Class’ pickup comes after Syfy also grabbed the Nightflyers series based on George R.R. Martin‘s novella and the successful launch of Happy!, adapted from Grant Morrison’s graphic novel and starring Christopher Meloni.

“We’re committed to developing graphic novels for SYFY and have found a rich, compelling, truly unique world in Deadly Class,” Bill McGoldrick, President, Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment said in a statement. “Our producing partners expertly combined high school angst, 80s nostalgia and comic flair into a beautifully realized, visually arresting pilot that truly brings Rick and Wes’ acclaimed comic series to life.”
