The CW Fall Lineup 2017: Everything to Know – Today’s News: Our Take

It’s an exciting time to be a fan of The CW. With the impending expansion back into Sunday night programming, the network has more room for original programming than it has had since 2009 when it originally shifted to only five days of original scripted content.

This is welcome news for fans of several of the networks lower-rated shows, which may not have made the cut otherwise. Even so, space on The CW’s 2018-2019 schedule is tight given that the network granted early renewals to 10 of its current shows, including The Flash, Supernatural and Riverdale. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will also return for its final season next year, and Jane the Virgin is reportedly coming to a close as well, potentially bringing an end to The CW’s short-lived era of Golden Globe-winning, female-fronted critical hits (at least for now).

The CW also entered into the 2018 fall season with a slew of promising (and quite eccentric) pilots to choose from that ranged from predictable (who’s ready for those potential Roswell and Charmed reboots?) to ones that feel delightfully fresh. So which pilots got the elusive series pickup and which CW staples have come to the end of the road?

Below you’ll find all of the news out of Upfronts related to The CW’s 2018-2019 schedule. For more information, check out everything you need to know about NBC, Fox, ABC and CBS‘ fall lineups here.
