The CW has officially ordered Batwoman to series, according to Variety, and literally no one should be surprised by that.

Ever since the character made her debut in the most recent epic Arrowverse crossover, fans and critics alike have been pretty certain that we’d be getting a Batwoman series on The CW in the 2019-2020 season, but it’s nice of The CW to finally make it official!

Batwoman will star Ruby Rose as Kate Kane, a tatted-up lesbian superhero trying to defend Gotham after it fell into chaos when Batman disappeared. Unlike Supergirl and The Flash, Batwoman has a decidedly darker tone. Its atmosphere is more reminiscent of Arrow than any of the other Arrowverse shows. Considering Arrow is on its way out — the series has been renewed for a shortened final season — it’s great news that Batwoman can, and probably will, fill that hole in the lineup.
