An infant has died after being struck by an unlicensed driver who lost control of his SUV and jumped a curb in the Bronx, police said.

Cops received a call just before 4 p.m. Tuesday of a stroller carrying a 1-year-old  girl being struck by a car that careened off the road and onto the sidewalk while heading north on White Plains Road near East 215th Street in the Olinville neighborhood.

The mother flagged down a car nearby to bring the little girl to Montefiore Hospital, but doctors were unable to save her, police said. The child was identified as Dienaba Megasa, police said.

The 22-year-old driver of the white BMW SUV — who had ID on him, but not a driver’s license —remained at the scene and told police he lost control of the vehicle while trying to make a right turn onto East 215th Street. He then smashed into another car before mounting the sidewalk, where the child was struck.

Police were testing the man for possibly being intoxicated and took him into custody, but charges are not yet known. An investigation is ongoing as officers look for surveillance video to get a better idea of what happened leading up to the fatal crash.
