Peggy Lipton‘s Twin Peaks co-stars are among those mourning the actress on social media following her death at age 72.

Lipton’s daughters, Kidada and Rashida Jones, announced Saturday that she had passed away due to cancer. In a joint statement to the Los Angeles Times, they said, “Peggy was and will always be our beacon of light, both in this world and beyond. She will always be a part of us.”

The news prompted a swift outpouring online from those who knew and worked with Lipton, who won a Golden Globe for her performance in 1960s counterculture series The Mod Squad. In more recent years, Lipton was best known as Twin Peaks‘ Norma Jennings, owner of the Double R Diner.

Mädchen Amick, who played Shelly Johnson, posted a photo with Lipton from the set of the 2017 Twin Peaks revival, which brought back both actresses in their original roles. “I lost a sister today,” the Riverdale star wrote. “She was a true angel on earth. Always the coolest in the room. You couldn’t fit anymore love into that gorgeous soul of hers and she shared her heart generously with everyone around her. She was such a proud mother. Loved her girls more than anything in the world. I will always love you Peggy. I hope to dance with you again in the stars one day.”

Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLachlan shared a sweet tribute to Lipton on Twitter, writing, “The RR diner is dark today. Very sorry to hear Peggy Lipton is gone. We’ve lost a beautiful soul.”

Co-star Ray Wise described Lipton as “a beautiful human being…the best of all of us.”

Other Hollywood stars, including Helen Hunt, Paul Reiser, and Kathy Griffin, joined in with their own tributes. Griffin wrote, “I’ve honestly always thought of Peggy as…perfect. Honest, funny, nurturing, oh and loved some good, juicy, gossip.”

“I got the chance to work with her a few years back and she was so darn delightful, and funny, and open hearted. Such a lovely woman,” Reiser tweeted. “I hope she knew how wonderful she was. RIP my friend.”

Hunt wrote simply, “She’s the one I always wanted to be.”
