The Utah Jazz banned three fans indefinitely following a verbal altercation during Wednesday night’s Game 2 against the Memphis Grizzlies at Vivint Arena.

The team did not go into specifics about the incident, which happened amid Utah’s 141-129 victory over Memphis.

“The Utah Jazz have zero tolerance for offensive or disruptive behavior,” the Jazz said in a statement Thursday. “An incident occurred last night involving a verbal altercation during Game 2. Arena security staff intervened, and the investigation resulted in the removal and banning of three Jazz fans indefinitely.”

“We apologize to all who were impacted by this unfortunate incident and condemn unacceptable fan behavior.”

Security was involved in a matter involving at least one fan in seats relatively close to the the Memphis bench during the game, but it was not known if that was the incident in question.

Grizzlies guard Ja Morant tweeted out the hashtag “protectourplayers” not long after that game.

The incident marks the third from Wednesday night’s games alone that resulted in fans getting banned from arenas.
