Steven Universe Future: Season 6 New Title Sequence

American Horror Story: 1984 is set to be the FX anthology’s shortest season yet. TV Guide can confirm that the current season will conclude with the ninth episode, airing on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 10/9c.

1984 was originally presumed to be 10 episodes, which would have made it equal in length to Roanoke (Season 6) and Apocalypse (Season 8). The first five seasons of American Horror Story were either 12 or 13 episodes, while Cult (Season 7) was 11.

The news of the abbreviated season is likely bittersweet to many American Horror Story fans. While the decision means viewers will be getting fewer episodes than previous installments, it also means that there is a higher chance that the final episodes of the campy slasher season will be free of the wheel-spinning that can often occur in the second-half of the anthology series.

The Definitive American Horror Story Timeline

This news means 1984 only has four more episodes to reveal the fates of Brooke (Emma Roberts), Margaret (Leslie Grossman), Mr. Jingles (John Carroll Lynch), and the other Camp Redwood alums. Because while the ghostly reveal in the latest episode propelled the plot in a new direction, it remains unclear where the story goes from here. But with next week’s episode marking the series’ 100th, it’s sure to have plenty of twists and turns in store for longtime fans of the series.

American Horror Story: 1984 airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on FX.
