5 Things to Watch Today – July 11, 2017

Jake (Andy Samberg) and Amy’s (Melissa Fumero) wedding on Brooklyn Nine-Nine was supposed to be a happy occasion, but an uninvited guest has shown up to put a damper on things. Who invited you, Mr. You’ve Been Canceled?

Fox has canceled Brooklyn Nine-Nine, one of this season’s bubble shows that had major vocal support from its fans. Though the news will come as a disappointment to most, the numbers for Brooklyn Nine-Nine just weren’t there: the comedy was Fox’s third-worst performing series, ahead of just New Girl and The Exorcist. Its 0.73 rating in the 18-49 demo was also down from last season. We simply can’t say we were surprised by the decision.

8 Reasons to Save Brooklyn Nine-Nine From the Chopping Block

On the plus side, Brooklyn Nine-Nine lasted five very funny seasons on Fox and when all is said and done, will have run 112 episodes. That’s a good number for any show, let alone a comedy about offbeat cops, Andre Braugher talking about how much he loved bountiful female bosoms, Die Hard references and Terry Crews‘ dancing pecs. Aww, now I just got even sadder that it’s gone.

Say it with me one last time: NINE-NINE!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine airs Sundays at 8:30/7:30c on Fox. The series finale will air on May 20.
